The Facility for Investment-Ready Nature in Scotland

Project Aim:

To investigate the feasibility and design options for establishing an integrated Source-to-Sea restoration fund covering marine, coastal and river catchment projects in Scotland.

In collaboration with Finance Earth, HMC were commissioned by NatureScot to investigate the potential for establishing a Source-to-Sea fund in Scotland. Building on the successes of the Scottish Marine Environmental Enhancement Fund, a Source-to-Sea fund would include the addition of river catchment restoration projects, enabling a joined up approach to funding marine, coastal, and terrestrial environmental restoration. Through an extensive stakeholder engagement process and drawing on the nature finance expertise of Finance Earth, a range of fund design options were developed and assessed.
