To develop a strategic, national approach to Blue Economy planning, which protects ecosystems as well as promoting economic growth, social inclusion and the preservation and improvement of livelihoods.
The production of an evidence-based Blue Economy development vision and roadmap for Pakistan that the World Bank can successfully implement in practice.
HMC provided the technical lead on a project for the World Bank and the Government of Pakistan to implement a strategic, national approach to Blue Economy planning. This approach sought to promote economic growth, social inclusion and the preservation and improvement of livelihoods, while at the same time ensuring protection for the ecosystems upon which the former rely.
Work on this project included (i) analysis of policy and institutional gaps; (ii) a Blue Public Expenditure Review; (iii) assessment of monitoring risks to sustainability and ground evidence for decision-making; (iv) the production of a Blue Economy development vision and roadmap in Pakistan; and (v) support for the World Bank in the successful implementation of the final, approved roadmap.
