Design of a Blue Economy Institutional Capacity Building Programme

Project Aim:

To design and deliver capacity building programmes in Barbados focused on Blue Economy education.

Project Outcome:

Delivery of a Blue Economy Roadmap, policy, and action plan was supported within Barbados.

HMC designed an institutional capacity building programme for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy (MMABE) of the Government of Barbados. This considered the Ministry’s staffing, organisational structure, inter-agency connectivity, technological and technical capabilities and determined the main areas of strength and weakness. In turn, this sought to improve MMABE’s coordination, its capacity to implement a Blue Economy policy, action plan and roadmap/long term strategy, and its ability to support blue growth in Barbados.

In addition, HMC designed and delivered a Blue Economy Academic Program for professional development and the creation of new skills in support of Blue Economy in Barbados.
