Lucy will lead efforts within HMC’s Blue Economy portfolio in the UK and overseas, continuing to focus on projects that foster integrated marine planning and innovative delivery methods for a sustainable Blue Economy.

Ness Smith joined HMC in 2022 as an experienced marine biologist with expertise in the application of natural capital approaches to policy development, sustainable finance options, and marine management in the UK and internationally. Ness will lead HMC’s Natural Capital portfolio, continuing to focus on projects that improve outcomes for biodiversity, climate, and poverty alleviation.

We are also excited to announce the appointment of Dr Steve Gibson who joins HMC as Associate Director – Strategy, from a 30-year government career at Defra and the JNCC.
